Network Marketing 1100 People

One of the leaders in my MLM business said when he started he talked to over 1100 people.

Actually he gave some type of tool to 1100 people and followed up with those people.

It's crucial to understand that.

The number of people he TRIED to talk to might be double or even triple that!

The 1100 people were ones he gave a DVD , lead to his website, a magazine article or something else that qualified as a third party tool.

He also followed up with every single one of them!

It's unlikely every person joined or had some type of interest but it was very important to get back with that person and find out if you should continue to treat that person as a prospect (they exhibited enough interest to receive a second tool or be moved along in some other way through the exposure process) or remove them from further consideration (they had no interest,  a bad attitude or some other reason you don't want him or her on the team).

Maybe initially 1100 people sounds like a big number?

Unobtainable to you?

Unrealistic?

Maybe it will surprise you to find out that you can give 4 people a CD to listen to daily and you could easily expose 1100 people in a year.

That includes like 90 days off in that calendar year.

Also let me state, our leader, when he had completed those 1100 exposures and follow-ups was earning OVER $20K a month.

Obviously there's no guarantee you will be at that income level even after 2000 exposures BUT just for fun...

if somehow you KNEW you could be in that type of financial ballpark...

How long would it take for you to give a tool to 1100 semi qualified (You talked to them for a minute or two) people?

Something tells me you would do it pretty quick.

How to recruit black people into your Network Marketing Business

Lol!

Ok.  I guess I tricked you.

I really don't think there is any specific way to recruit African Americans.

The same technique you use to recruit any person of any ethnicity is probably the same.

No matter what their race is they need to trust you, like you and see you as a leader.

Now if for whatever reason you don't feel very comfortable around black people try using this method of communicating I call C.T.P.

CTP

Very simple.

Compliment the person,

Bring up something Topical.

Smoothly transition into your Presentation.

"Hi Tony..."

Not quite right...

"Hi Malcolm..."

I had to.

"...I love that tie.  Where did you get that?  You see the game last night?  I fell asleep.  Who ended up winning it?  You know I'd been meaning to ask you something for a long time...Are you open to a business opportunity?"

Generic and common lines of communication in our industry.

The funny thing is...

Still appropriate.

We're all the same.

We're all different.

We're all people!

Here's a tip.

Black people...The huge majority...LOVE Barack Obama.

Use him as a Icebreaker.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

Even if you're the most staunch, conservative Republican and you can't get yourself to even mention Barack's name...

even for your business...

LOL!

try this...

"Wow Monique did you hear the President the other day?"

How to become a Network Marketing Superhero!

What characteristic is generally shared by the majority of Superheroes?

It doesn't matter if they fly, Spin webs, turn green and get all types of muscles or travel in an invisible plane.

One thing is typical of our superheroes.

They are brave.

They have courage!

We have to have the same courage when we talk to our prospects.

Could you imagine Bruce Wayne NOT answering that Bat-phone?

Even when you work your warm market you have to follow up.

Sometimes very often.

You have to make those calls.

You have to talk to that person!

You doubt he will be interested?

He's not The Joker!

She already makes a six-figure income?

She's not Catwoman!

Talk to these people!  Approach these people!  Follow-up with these people!

Expose these people to your opportunity...four times...five times...six times

It's not over until Superman flies off into the sunset having saved the day.

That' s how the superheroes do it!

branding

A guy named Gary Vaynerchuk hit the nail squarely on the head with his book, "Crush It".

This is the time for branding yourself!

In some small circles in my hometown I'm known for my chess playing abilities.

My skills are actually so microscopic in world chess rating circles that it's not even worth it for me to tell you my rating.

HOWEVER...

Nowadays it doesn't matter.

I'm still good enough to make a you-tube video about my exploits and explain what I do know.

AND SOMEBODY WILL WATCH IT!

That's what you have to do in MLM also.

Obviously you can begin your branding of yourself by using social media like Facebook.

Once you have put your name on your company insignia, the branding has begun.  The idea is to consciously try to get people to see you as the answer to their needs regarding your network marketing opportunity.

In the past we used paper products like flyers and business cards, now we have every medium conceivable as a tool.

It's not a matter of if we should brand ourselves (some would say we do that automatically everyday in many, many ways) but instead that we are doing everything in our power to emphasize who we are and what we do.

Our business can be tough and having a tool at an amazing price

FREE!

to help make things a little easier for us

We're actually paying a bigger price not to.

Prospecting

My company says it pretty much the same way many network marketing companies say it.

"There's only three things you have to do in this company to be successful. Recruit, recruit and recruit...and don't get that out of order."

I actually like prospecting...most of the time.

I came up with this prospecting survey idea (probably been done millions of times but I'm taking the credit today) where I stop a person in the mall and ask them if they would like to take a very brief survey.

The survey consists of questions about wanting to earn extra income.  Usually the person says, "Sure, I'd like to earn extra income." At which time I get their name and phone number and I give them our opportunity DVD.

If they don't want to give me their phone number (somewhat understandable considering a lot of women particularly might just think it's a come-on) then I will only give them a business card and a link to another opportunity video.

It's hard to feel good about giving a prospect a tool without follow-up info.

I've only done it to about 10 prospects because mall security doesn't like people doing surveys with their customers.

That decently handled but nevertheless discouraging interruption, threw me for a loop and I've had to regain my confidence in preparation of trying it again.  This time the location will be a grocery store parking lot or outside the mall area (preferably while moving from store to store).

There are tons of prospecting videos on you-tube.  Most people hate cold market but I'm absolutely certain there is a lot of money in it.

It's tough but very necessary.

I guess I'm just a different breed.  I'll work my warm market, do daily exposures and set weekly goals for this harder core prospecting as well.

My "WHY" (why I'm in this business) is very important to me and I need to start helping others to be successful RIGHT NOW!

Call reluctance

SOMETIMES I HATE MAKING PHONE CALLS!!!!!!!!

Introductions, follow-ups, cold calls, etc etc etc.  Sometimes I just don't feel like it.

I know it's CRUCIAL but I have call reluctance like many, many people.

UNSUCCESSFUL people I might add.

"I do today what other's don't, to have tomorrow what other's won't!"

Just pick up the phone Frank and do it!

DO IT!

I'm doing it.

Little victories

My return to Network Marketing has been a little tough.

I was lucky I didn't have to start at square One (I maintained my title/position from 10 years ago) but it's in name only.

I have nothing.

I am not making any money at this point and because I work full-time, I don't have the time to put into this that I wish I had.

I guess I'm a little anxious right now.

I'm more determined than ever but I just wish something would happen for me right this second.

A little victory.

Well, actually I just had one.

I just finished talking to someone in my down-line who made me feel great.

When I got started again, one of the first things I did was go through my entire organizational genealogy to see who was still active.

In my organization, being active means they maintained a continuous membership the entire history of their association with the company.  They may not have written any business but as long as they have an active membership they are considered active and can basically pick up right where they left off no matter how long it's been since they did any business.

Once I determined who was active, I created a conference line (using freeconferencecall.com....A excellent service) that I plan to use for future team building.

Until I build a team, I've left a motivational message on the replay line so I can direct these inactive associates to hear something to inspire them.

Of the 800 or so associates on my team from 12 years ago, about 60 are still active.

I've started calling every single one of them to say hi and see what their thoughts are about our business.

Of course my truest intention is to talk to everyone of those associates and see if I can motivate them to re-join the team.

So...after all that preliminary explanation, I talked to the sweetest 82 year old lady who actually is at the same level as I am but still a part of my down-line.

She explained that she had been sick for a number of years but actually planned to become more active soon anyway.

What was really energizing for me was hearing her say all of the things she felt about the company and about recruiting and selling memberships and it was all perfect!

What an amazing woman she is.  I don't think she was trying to impress me (she's 82 years old dammit) She just naturally feels this positive about our team!

I pray I'm able to help her reach the top level of our business!

Our company couldn't ask for a better representative.

Her natural responses made her one of the most refreshing people I've talked to since my re-start.

I needed it today.

victory.

A numbers game

I think one of the first things you hear when you get involved with this business is that, "It's a numbers game."

What does that mean?

It means that you have to talk to a large number of people in order to find a few leaders.

It's definitely true.

The good news is...

In many MLM businesses, you can earn a six figure income with less than 5 "REAL" leaders in separate "legs" or different lines of your organization.

It just means you have a handful of leaders in your organization who have their own huge organization, each independent of each other but all a part of your network.

That's great!

I like to think, "all I want is 5 other people with my own work ethic because I know how seriously I take this business and I know how diligently I study to develop the skills to be effective.  So all I need is to effectively duplicate myself!"

Again, that's the good news.

Duplicating yourself should be a little easier than trying to mold someone into what you envision a great leader to be...is.

The hard part ...

It might take you 5 years to find those leaders.

The turnover rate in our business is frightening.

I'm sure a big part of it is not realistically preparing prospects for everything it takes to be successful- namely hard work, dedication and consistentcy.

I think we tend to soft-sell the work required to get to the top and then when it doesn't happen right away, people get discouraged and quit.

We also aren't preparing the people we sponsor for the REJECTION they will face over and over and over from friends and family...least of all strangers.

But with all the mistakes we tend to make as we develop into better sponsors, the only thing we need to do is work on our skills, work on our personal development and recruit.

If you do those three things I have no doubt you will be successful.

it is a numbers game.

NMPRO

Network Marketing Pro or NMPRO on You-tube is an incredible resource!

Eric Worre is a MLM Guru and he's really giving back to the profession with this free series!

I just watched #4 through #8 with Nathan Ricks (another guru) and it's so content rich I had to get on here and say, "go watch it right now!"

There's over a thousand episodes (many are only a few minutes) but I think they are great.  They cover basically everything involving this AMAZING industry.

Ok...gotta go...I'm watching right now.

Personal development

Personal development is VERY important. I really can't stress that enough. In order to survive in this business you have got to have more confidence in yourself than common-sense.  How wonderful it is that everything we could ever need to be successful is right on the Internet and its free!

Not a great speaker?  Google - How to improve in public speaking.  Afraid to cold call?  Google -How to improve in cold calling in MLM? It's rare that I ever say this but those Google guys deserve every billion they've ever earned.

I'm sure I will touch on the countless things I read, watch and listen to for my personal development but here's one I just stumbled onto minutes ago. I think it is 100 percent accurate. It has to do with your posture when recruiting. I hope you find it as helpful as I did.

The Great Ones

Whenever we make our list, we always envision someone who, once they get involved will explode our business! We are absolutely certain that this man or woman will be a huge business builder! Just that person and two more just like them and we can retire! We are all set!

In my limited experience RARELY is that ever true. Almost every network marketing guru will tell you, " You can't pick a winner. You can't be sure who the stud is. Recruit without prejudice. Many many times the dud will really end up being the stud."

Still I think it's ok to have a wish list just don't get too wrapped up in it. If that person isn't interested right now ( with RIGHT NOW being key) don't sweat it. Go on to the next person. There's a VERY good chance they weren't "The GREAT One" anyway.

Ok...ok... I'll be honest.  I currently have my hopes on three guys right now. They've all seen intro videos and two of the three  have shown interest. I'm hoping but I'm a lot more realistic than I was when I started my business 10 yrs ago. I'm not waiting on them. I'm going to keep making new contacts all the while continuing to give my three hot prospects exposures (varies ways of presenting my business to them) until they make a decision.

As long as they are open to my presentations... ( videos, business briefings, luncheons etc) then I will keep inviting them to functions.  It can take some recruits 5 or more exposures to make a decision.  I know when I was introduced to my business I didn't sign up immediately.  I did get excited about the business eventually and soon it turned into a great commitment.

So I know it can happen.  As long as the prospect keeps answering your calls and continues to show interest, keep giving him things to look at.

That's another reason why it's vital to be working with many people at the same time.  It stops you from looking anxious (and being anxious) to your   recruit.  You should always appear to be excited, and positive about your business but never desperate!

I want to send off an air of, "I would love to have you as a teammate but if this isn't for you, it's going to be your loss."

The only way you can be 100 percent certain of that persona is to actually feel that yourself.

Having many potential "great ones" in your hopper helps a lot!

Day 1

Almost everybody tells you to make a list of 100 names.

Your warm market.

It's very important!

In most businesses getting off to a fast start is crucial.

Why is it crucial?

If you don't get off to a fast start, there's a very good chance you won't start at all.

Most companies pay you extra or give you an incentive bonus to start fast. They know the statistics and they aren't pretty.

When people sit idle and think about their game plan, there's a good chance call reluctance will set in.

The warm market gives you a few people to share your opportunity with who you feel comfortable talking to.

I made my list.

Thank God for Facebook. Makes things a lot easier as far as remembering people.

Even though I think my opportunity is very, very solid, it's still not easy to talk to people.  It's so easy for self doubt to set in.

That's why it's just as important as your 100 names to have a HUGE "why" you're doing this business.

This is not get rich quick. It can definitely happen for you in a short time frame BUT generally you better be prepared for 3-5 years before you can CONSIDER leaving your job.

That's a lot of NO's you will be experiencing. A whole lot of NOs!

Your "WHY" better be strong and it better be very specific!

You will probably have support from your Upline and some successes along the way but its not going to be easy. You will have bitter dissapointments when you least expect it.

There's only two things that you absolutely know will be there in your weakest moments... Yourself and your "WHY".

Be ready

New networker

I've decided to start a network marketing venture and I want to share the experience with you.

The name of the company is irrelevant as I'm sure everything I describe will apply to every venture out there in the direct selling world.

A little about me. At age 50,  I definitely feel "behind" in life. A struggling marriage, a job that pays the bills ( lucky for a college drop-out)  but not one that I look forward to everyday. A family that I love but because I haven't been the happiest person over the years, I'm a lot more distant with most of them than I should be.  Generally a 50 year old desperately seeking to make the latter part of his life mean something.

This is a great company, I truly love the opportunity and it gives me hope. I'm not starting at the very bottom because I was involved with this company for 6 years between 1996-2002. I didn't accomplish a lot but I'm not starting at ground zero. I don't have any money coming in from my prior efforts but I have a title that is about 5 levels from entry. It doesn't mean anything unless I work the business however I'm glad I can make a little better money to start when I do get going.

And we're off...
